The other products either would break, or couldn't hold the weight of a 17" monitor effectively. While this product didn't have reviews at the time I purchased it, I still bought it as it looked sturdy and claimed to be designed for a large laptop. I am very pleased with this product. It is sturdy, holds my computer very well, has a nice mouse pad built in, and the fan is very helpful for keeping my computer from overheating. The legs are also easily adjustable, and the device folds up into a small, easily storable and transportable size. I would recommend this product! I love it and use it a lot.
