The neat thing is, one can turn the desk around for various sitting positons--in a chair, in a bed, or leaning in a chair with your leg over the arm rest--it's light and wide enough for all your work--in bed, I turn it lengthwise, place my text near me and the laptopbehind the text book--and bam! I got it all together. For those in online studies (don't laugh since John Hopkins now offers Masters online!), you will love that trick that I do for getting it all on one plane.
This lapdesk should improve posture too--no more leaning over the table in a stiff chair!
Each side has a small zippered pocket held underneath with velcor, the are about the size two decks of cards.
